Moroccan Borders

Mosaic border patterns are commonly used to frame larger mosaic patterns on both floors and walls, as stair risers, and as accents in the form of wainscoting. Most mosaic borders come as grouted sheets with a solid backing sized about 12″ x 6″. Just like the main mosaic tile patterns, there are several different levels of intricacy and several different types of layouts. You will find everything from very basic grid patterns to very elaborate Arabesque patterns and everything in between. Some of the patterns are laid out horizontally while others are more vertical. The more intricate a certain border design is, the more accent it will provide to its main pattern. Whether you are going for more of a busy, traditional look or more of a subtle, contemporary look, the way you match up the main mosaic pattern with its borders in terms of colors and designs will determine the final outcome.
